Copic Markers on washable Textiles - Baby Onesies

Hi Copic Lovers,

Have you ever coloured with Copics on textiles? And what if it's not only a decorative piece of textile, but one that should be washed from time to time?
So, today I come up with a project where I've used Copics on a Baby Onesie (cotton).
I've coloured, washed, dried and ironed it to show you that it not only looks super cute, but really works well. It's so easy to create lovely little personalised gifts for new borns.

You need:

Baby Onesie
(best, if allready washed off the chemicals of textile production)

MEMENTO ink
in the colours of your choice

stamp of your choice

thick cardboard
(to put between the onesie)

Copic Markers

iron

Put the cardboard into the onesie (between front and back side) to prevent stamp and copic bleed through. Make sure your stamp is well inked. Don't use Staz-On ink, as it'll ruin your markers! A lot of other inkpads are water based, so they're useless for this kind of project.

Let dry the stamped image, before colouring it. You can fasten up that process by ironing it (use a thin cloth or tissue on top of the image to protect your iron). Blending your Copics is not that easy on textile as they are on paper. You can easily control the amount of colour. Start softly and if you need to intensify the colour, go over it twice and more slowly to let the fiber suck up the colour. But be careful to prevent bleeding it over the lines. Better keep a thin distance to your line and wait if it's running out to the lines after a while. Otherwise you can add a little more colour.

Here you can see the details... and now I use again my iron to dry it up completely.
Again using a protection for your iron. Then I left it resting over night.

I recommend you to wash it by hand. That's a much softer treatment.
If you want to wash it in the machine, I'd recommend you to turn it inside out, so the image will not be rubbed by other textiles.

rince it well and then hang up to dry.

softest would be drying on air instead of putting it into the tumbler.

Under the head of the turtle and under the carrot you can see it ran out of the lines.  Happened, because I seemed to use a bit to much colour. So take another chance to practise until you "feel" how much it needs :)

At the moment I have found out no fixing method that prevents/minimises washing off or bleaching (as Copics are alcohol based and react to sunlight). There are many different textile colours on the market with each their own fixing sprays. But it should be tested how they react with Copics and Memento ink. I see less problems using a fixing spray if you're creating textiles for adults. But I'd be rather carefull if textiles are in touch with sensitive baby skin. If someone allready has good experiences with some fixing spray, let us all know and share your ideas placing a comment right below :) THANK YOU!

In another tutorial comming up soon I'll show you how to create such textile gifts using your Digi-Stamps :)

So, have fun trying it & see you back soon!

Throwing the first snowball

Happy Winter, dear Copic Lovers!

Over here in Switzerland, first snowfalls allready covered everything in white and so there are not much colors left arround... That inspired me for my following image. The most colourful moment during winter is the so called blue hour in the evening (just before sky is turning completely black), when the lights turn on and the stars shine bright... look at all the warm colours...
I've used the winter park background digi (by makeitcrafty.com)
and added sweet snowball tia digi (by Some Odd Girl).
Now for the light of the lantern and its shine I used Y000, Y11, Y13, Y19, Y38.
Then I did the trees and leaf using YG67, YG17, YG03, G40 and then coloured the sky
starting with the light part arround the lantern using the brightest blue first and blend
to the darker tones step by step using B0000, B32, B21, B23, B24, B26.
Next step was to colour the bow and Tia's tongue using R21, R46 and BV23 for shadowing.
For the stone wall I used C1, C4, C7, for the skin E0000, E00, E11.
Cheeks done with R21, R30 and face shadowing with BV23, BV20.
For the hair, bench and boots I used the warm browns E50, E53, E55, E57, E59.
Coloration of her jeans using B0000, B21, B23. Eyes done with YG17, YG03, G40.
Her Jacket and hat with Y11, Y13, Y19 and BV23, BV20 for the shadowing.
Now setting some shadows in the snow and on the boots fur using W0, W2, W4.
Some warm light reflections in the snow done with Y000, Y11.
Scarf and gloves have the same colours as the bow at the lantern (R21, R46, BV23).
With the Blender (0) I've created some white spots in the sky and went over the dots
with Y13 to brighten up the stars a little...

Thanks for stopping by & wish you warm winter evenings...

Miss You

Hello Copic Lovers,

What a pleasure to have you back here today! Want to thank you for all the lovely comments you allways leave arround. I really appreciate to share our COPIC LOVE with you here on the Blog. Today I'd like to share my little passion of pink... showing up in a little card I've created using Dressy Mae (Digi-Stamp by Some Odd Girl).
One of my favourite colour combinations is pink with egg shell and brown tones.
Therefore I love to mix up my copics as well. Hope it shows up on below pic, so you can see what I mean... first I colour in pink tones (here it's her skirt) and let it dry. When it's dry I go over the entire pink part of her skirt with E50 Egg Shell to give it a warm touch, that is repeating in the background design papers.
For the shadowing of her skin I set first the shadow areas using E11, then slightly go over it with RV34, blend off a bit with RV31... then reuse E11 again. Then I blend this with E00 and E000. For her cheeks I've used R21 and R30. Her Eye Make Up is done with the same RV's I've used for her skirt.
Find below all Copic Sketch Markers I've used for my coloration.

Thanks for your visit & hope to see you back soon!
Wish you a lot of pink creativity :) May the RV's be with you...

Happy Birthday Card

Hi Ladies,

Angie here, with a Happy Birthday Card for you.

I've used this fun Mo Manning Digi-image with a cute boy sitting on his pot.
To make this great colors of the design papers really pop, I've decided to use craft paper for the background and kept the layout quite clean.

To match the colors of the papers
(out of the 6x6 paper pad "Bundle Of Joy" by Echo Park Paper)
I've used following Copic Sketch Markers.

Happy Birthday to whomever it may concern :D

Here are some more details

and that's what it looks in the end...

Copic Sketch Markers used:

Pretty Cool

Hi dear Copic Lovers,
Think I really don't have to tell you that Copic Markers are pretty cool... :)
But that's a fact and therefore all the lovely and hyper talented DT girls are showing you again and again how cool they are... so do I today. Just want to show you this card I've made.

I've used this cute Cowgirl Digi-Image by Mo Manning and coloured her with the following Copic Sketch Markers:

E0000, E000, E11, E21, E41, E42, E43, E44, E47, E49, E50,
B91, B93, B95, B97, B99, N1, N4, N6, G43, G46, Y04,
RV000, RV10, RV21, RV23, R21, R22,

As I have so many paper scraps, I'm actually using them by combining colours I normally didn't combine in the past... and often I'm totally surprised what turns out in the end. So, I love these pretty cool Copic Sketch Markers, as I find EVERY kind of colour shade to match my Design Papers and/or Flowers, Laces etc... Here I loved to use this blue paper with all the stars printed on it, and so I coloured the skirt on my images using the same jeans blue tones. Hat and Boots in brown matching the brown dotted Design Paper. But to make it more girlie I added some pink details like flowers, lace and brads...

PRETTY COOL GREETINGS :)

Naschkatze / Sweet Tooth

Hi Ladies,

Today I want to show you this Card Project. I've used a super cute image stamp by Whiff Of Joy. The sentiment "Naschkatze" (sweet tooth) is by WOJ as well. This time I just wanted to show, how I mix up Copics to match paper colours with a used/vintage look.

The papers I've used have this brownish aqua tones that I don't find within the copics palette.
So I coloured first the hat and skirt of the girl using BG10, BG11 and BG13.
To match with the paper tone, I've overcolored these parts (hat & skirt) with E50.

To mix up colours I just love the E50 or the soft Warm Grey tones W1 to W3... give it a chance and try it out :)

Wish you a great next tea time with your friends,
Angie

Café de Paris

Hi Copic Lovers,

For a couple of days all the white has melt and some true colours appeared :)
So the "ink" of my Copics is running wild in a springlike scenery at Paris (Digi-Stamp by Make it Crafty), where a sweet mouse couple walks along (Digi-Stamp by Whiff Of Joy)...
LOVE is in the air.
I've added the mouse couple digi to the background digi using Photoshop Elements Software.
Then printed out, cut to 13,5 x 13,5 cm and started colouring.

To colur this image for my card
I've used my Copic Sketch Markers Nr.:
YG01 / YG17 / Y35 / B91 / B93 / R21 / R22 / R24 / R27 / R29 /
E000 / E41 / E42 / E43 / E44 / E47 / E49 /
W00 / W0 / W1 / W2 / W3 / W5 / W6 / N0 / N2 / N4 / N6 / N8

Wish you a happy weekend,
Angie
