Hades, Saint Seiya fan art, by Suki Manga Art

Dear Copic friends, today I will show you my fan art inspired in Hades, from Saint Seiya (Masami Kurumada).

Do you like Greek mythology? I love it  <3

In Saint Seiya, as in the Greek mythology, Hades is the Underworld God, and as such, incarnates into a human being.

Hades is the son of Kronos and Rhea.

Every 243 years Hades can enter the world of humans, and fight against Athena for control over the world.

I hope you like my own version ^_^

To create this illustration I used these Copic colours:

Skin: E000 - E00 - E21
Hair: V15 -V09 - BV08 - V12
Eyes: G14 - BG49 - BG09
Armour: C7 - C5 - C3 - 100 - BV25
Background: 100 - Blender - W9 - BV08 - V09 - E04

See you soon!

 (^o^)/  bye!

Sweet friend

Hello everyone! It's Delphine here today to share a sweet card for a sweet friend, with a very cute character. I used a digi, perfect to make a big cropped image ;)

The character I used is called Evelyn by Make it Crafty. I resized it in MS Word and cropped it as I wished to make Evelyn the focus of my card. After colouring her with my Copics, I die cut my image with the biggest Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die by MFT. I added a sentiment by Paper Smooches.

Birthday card

Hello!

It´s time for me, Christina, to hang around here at Copic Europe today.

I have made a birthday card - as usual - for a colleague of mine. She turned 60 a couple of weeks ago and can you guess her favourite colour? Yep - it´s purple! Not my cup of tea but I have found a few purple markers that I really like.

The stamp is from Magnolia and I simply love this one. It's perfect when you don´t know what image to use. It works well when you make a Birthday card, a Get Well card or a New Job card. And I get to colour some wood =). It's fun and a bit tricky!

The sentiments are from Gummiapan and the lovely designer papers are from Maja Design!

These are the Markers I have used:

Wheel barrow W6-4-E49-47-44-42-40
Flowers BV29-V28-25-22-20
Petals/grass YG99-97-95

Have a lovely Sunday!

Bunny with Daffodil

Hi Everyone, it's Faye here today :)

I have a soft spot for bunnies. And I love daffodils. So, this stamp, called Bunny with Daffodil, by Artist Lee Holland at Whimsy Stamps, pushes all my buttons. Isn't he adorable? Especially with that little ladybug. Too cute.

I didn't do anything special to create the texture of the bunny fur. I just made sure my pen strokes were very messy and as un-smooth as possible!

Copics Used...
Fur; W00, T0, T1, T3, T5
Bunny Ears; RV91, R81
Grass/ Leaf; YG01, YG13, YG03, YG17
Black; W3, W7, W9
Yellow; Y21, YR31, YR23
Orange; YR14, YR18
Red; R35, R37, R89

Thanks so much for stopping by... Have a great day.

Copic Colour Chart health check

My art studio has been in dire need of a clean up so I recently gave it a bit of a blitz.

Anyway, part of my sort out included my beloved Copic Sketch markers......the inside of the lids and the area around the nibs have been cleaned with Copic Cleaner and squares of kitchen towel.
I'm pretty good at keeping my markers clean, doing the above regularly.
But it was a great opportunity to check all the pens, change a few nibs and refill those that were in need of a little top up!

A little tip.................if when colouring your marker starts to squeak, or not glide as smoothly on your cardstock it is often a sign that it may be in need of a refill.

Then it was time to check my Copic Colour Chart
You can find a blank chart HERE

I would really recommend you do this at least once a year as some of the Copic colours are not as lightfast as others and do change over time.

As you will see from the charts below........

Note: These charts were scanned and for some reason the fluorescents have lost their glow & look a tad pastel!

Here is a list of colours that have changed noticeably in the last year:
     BV0000     BV000     BV00     BV11     BV34     V04     Y28     YG06     YG07     YG13     YG23
          G85     BG15     B32     B63     FV2

If like me you use your colour chart for reference every time you colour I would recommend that you laminate your chart to protect it from spills and marks (the 2015 chart is laminated)
.......and no, it does not affect the colours - nor does it stop the above colours from changing.
It's a good idea to date it too!

The eagle eyed amongst you may spot tiny pink dots on the older chart - it is just my method of keeping track of which colours I have refills for!

Now that the markers have been given a health check and a new chart has been coloured it it time to get down to the fun stuff........

Happy Copic Colouring
everyone

shadowing and haircolouring tutorial

Some time ago I promised to do a hair tutorial and even better today I have a hair and face tutorial.
I have got a lot of photographs to show you so let's get started:

I started with a layer of E50 and E00. The first layer does look a bit stripey, but I don't worry about that yet. Many more layers will come and eventually I will blend all layers together with E000.

Fot some shadows I used BG0000. Blue is a cool colour and things in the distance always look more cool. I used the BG for the edges of her face and under the nose and chin.

For the 3rd layer I used the BV000 and BV00. These blue violets are just awesome for shadows.

When you only use cool colours in the face, it might look a bit weird in the end. So I decided to add some RV00 for some warmth. allthough the RV is a cool colour too, it looks warm next to the BV and BG I have been using in the previous layers.

Aading some more shadow with the W1, especially around the eyes and under the nose.

In this stage I took out the E000 and started blending all the layers together.

The eyes have shadows as well. The eyelid casts a shadow on the eyeball. I used W1 and BV00 to create this shadow. The R20 is for the fleshy parts of the eyes.

For colouring the eye I use several layers too. I started with YG61.

The 2nd layer is with YG23.

And the 3rd layer YG67. The darkest part of the eye is where the eyelid casts a shadow. So add a little of your darkest green just at the top of the eye.

Eyes usally have more than just one colour. So I added some tiny brown spots using E34 and E57.

The lips were coloured with E93, 95, 04 and 000.

Colouring hair can be tricky.  There is always a lot of shadow in hair, all those strands going underneath other strands of hair. So I find it easier to start with my darkest colour, in this case E09. In a flicking motion I colour the darkest parts of her hair.

Then I use the E08, YR16, YR15 and YR14 to colour the rest of the hair. I keep adding layers of ink until I'm happy with the result. The darkest colour might have been faded out a little with all those layers I put on top of it. So for some more depth I go back to the E08 and E09 to add more detail and depth to the hair.

And this was how she looks after all those layers, but I thought she looked a bit pale and her lips weren't sparkling enough.

I completely covered the skin in a layer of YR61 and blend it in with E000. On the lips I added some YR14, 15 and E08.
I liked it much better this way.

And this is the end result. I used the face in my art journal and doodled a little in the background.

See you next month.

Miranda
