Magic Iris Card with Flowers

Hi all,

March is a month full of birthdays  so today I am sharing a special card I have made for a special friend of mine.

I have fallen in love with the magic iris die...from Lawn Fawn love the wow factor!

And recently  I have bought these flower stamps from Sheena, the die and flower go well together.

First of all I have added EZ mount on the back of the rubberstmap, stamped it with Memento desert sand ink to create a kind of no-line colouring.

To colour the flower I have used :
RV000, RV 91, RV 93, RV 95, RV99

Please see my little video below

After having coloured the flower stamp  I have realised it was a bit too big next to the magic iris die so I have cut a piece. The rest was fussy cut around the image.

I have cut the letters with a die from Marianne Design, first out of purple foam and later also out of perfect colouring paper.

With a V91 marker I have coloured the white letters, to match the flower perfectly. These letters were glued on top of the foam letters in able to create a 3D effect.

When you open the magic iris this text will appear ( in the video you can see it moving )

Hope Stefania will like it and that I have inspired you today, thanks for your visit,

Tulip

Hi everyone.

Welcome back to Copic Marker Europe.
This time I will show you how I coloured this beautiful Tulip from Power Poppy Stamps

I printed my Tulip in a grey tone, this gives you have a No Lines Effect.
I started with the BV13 for shadow, my next colour is YG17.
I went over the BV13 with my YG17 and a little bit further, so they can blend together.
My next colour is YR03, so the whole leaf is coloured.

I used these 3 colours for all the leaves.

For the flower I use first BV000 for my shadow.
My next colour is Y35, it's going over the top of the BV000 and a little bit further
so the colours can blend. The next colour for the flower is Y15, it also goes over BV000 and Y35, so they can blend. And the last colour for my flower is Y13.
I used these 4 colours to colour all the flowers.

And this is the end result of my tulip.

Copics used:

Leaves : BV13 - YR17 and YR03
Flowers : BV000 - Y35 - Y15 and Y13

Thanks for coming over!

Small is cute!

Hello everyone! It's Delphine here today to share a sweet little card in no line colouring. For my card, I used an adorable image by MFT from the You Have My Heart set.

I started by colouring the sun in Y00, then sweeping from right to left and left to right, using V000, YR000, BG000 for the sky.

I then moved to the grass, using T7, G28, YG67 then YG17, 03, 01.

Next I coloured my character with my usual E000, 00, 11 for the skin, V09, 15, 17 and RV52, 55 for the clothes.

For the hair, I used E25, 59, and YR23 and I coloured her puppy friend in E41, 42, 43. I did the eyes in a brown Polychromo pencil.

I then added blades of grass in T7 and G28. I also put some flowers in gel pens and added a little heart chipboard coloured in gel pen too.

Sky: BG000, V000, YR000
Grass: G28, T7, YG01, 03, 17, 67
Skin: E000, 00, 11
Hair: E25, 59, YR23
Clothes: RV52, 55, V09, 15, 17

No Lines Fairy

Hi Everyone, it's Faye here today :)

This month, I thought I would ink up one of my favourite fairies; Whimsy Stamps Mazarine Fairy.

I have coloured her many times already, I just adore her. Because I've coloured her so often, I wanted to push myself to do something different with her.

I've already coloured her with 'out of my comfort zone' colours. I've coloured her as a redhead. I've coloured her with No Lines.

So, what should I do this time? I decided to go with a darker skin tone than I would normally reach for and I have also used the No Lines Technique.

I have taken photos at each stage of the process to show it is not as scary as it sounds!

Are you ready? Let's go...

I started with the skin first. Normally I would colour lighter areas before darker areas so I don't pull any of the darker colours into the lighter colours.

As these were different colours for me, I wanted to play around with them before I did other things on the image - If I decided I didn't like how the skin came out, I wouldn't be grumpy about wasting time, or discarding something with a different area I felt I had coloured well.

I used a pencil to mark the pupils and drew in a space for the eyes so I didn't lose them once I started colouring.

I coloured the skin dark to light, using E47, E74, E71, E70 with a very, very gentle and quick swipe with E00.

Next I coloured the hair, light to dark, using N3, N5, N7 and N9.

Time to colour the wings using the Feathering Technique. Again, because these are lighter colours I would have coloured these before the hair. But, I wanted to check the hair and skin were working together before I moved on.

I used BG0000, BG10, RV000 and RV10.

Next I moved onto her dress. On this area, I laid down a medium colour first to plan where my shading was going to be. Then I stepped up to my dark colour and worked down to the lightest.

I used; YG01, YG03, YG01, YG00.

For the underneath of the skirt, I coloured dark to light, using W5, W3 and YG03.

I wanted to ground the image before I moved onto the shoes. On this occasion, I went light to dark, using W0, W1 and W3. I also used these colours to add a little shading to the whites of the eyes.

Next I accesorised! I gave her a pink hairband, belt and shoes, colouring from dark to light, using W3, R81, RV10 and RV000.

Time for the goggle bongers! That's the boingy pom poms on her headband. This time I went from light to dark, using BG000, BG10, BG11 and BG53 along with YG00, YG01 and YG03.

Next I worked on her fairy wand, colouring dark to light, using Y18, Y13, Y04 and Y11.

Have you noticed how I mix things up? Sometimes I colour light to dark and sometimes I colour dark to light. I have found I get better results by laying down the colour in different ways, depending on the area I am colouring and the technique I am using.

Don't be afraid to try this - there are no rules - do what works for you :)

Finally I coloured her eyes. I decided to go in with pencil because it was such a small area to deal with and I didn't want to ruin everything I had done before. You could be sure this would be the moment when my hand would slip or a marker decided to blob!

I used a green pencil a black pencil and a white gel pen.

Job done.

Just Four Markers!

Hi Everyone, it's Faye here today :)

Last month, I chatted to you about Colouring in Monotone. This month, I thought I would take limiting my colours in a different direction and challenged myself to colour an image with just five markers. In fact, when it came to it, I only used four!

It's great to try this as a little challenge for yourself every once in a while, it really makes you think about where you want to put your shading. It's also a fab technique if you don't have many or all of the Copic colours.

When you are using just one marker to colour various parts of an image, you need to start with a smooth base layer of colour. You then build up layers of shading, gradually decreasing the amount of colour you lay each time.

It is important that the ink dries between each layer you add, otherwise the colour will try and blend with the ink below, rather than sit on top.

You also need to approach the extra layers with a light touch, this will enable you to build up lots of light layers, rather than a few heavy ones.

Finally, be sure to lift the Copic at the end of the pen stroke, so you have a lovely light flick. This means you'll end up with a nice smooth transition between layers of shading.

I have used an image from Tiddly Inks, called Wryn - Whatcha Doin'? and printed her in light grey so I can also achieve the No Lines Technique.

Let's make a start...

E000.

The light source is coming from the top left, so I've added E000 shading to create shape at the edges of the face and under the fringe, the bottom of the ear, on the neck under the chin and across the fingers.

Repeat with E000, laying less shading in each area this time. Don't worry if the shading under the hair looks a little loud. Adding a hair colour will tone this down...

I am using E71 for the hair, letting an area dry before colouring the section next to it. As I am colouring with No Lines, this will help me decide where to place my shading.

Use E71 to start adding shading. I have also added some E71 to the face and mouth and softened it with E000, to act as cast shadow.

Time for more layers of E71, paying specific attention to the pieces of hair under the chin, which are tucked behind. By adding extra layers of E71 only to these areas, you will pop them behind.

Add E71 to increase the fringe hanging over the face, the wisps of hair at the top of the head and cast shadow around the hair clip.

A few extra touch ups with E71 on the wisps at the top of the head, the eyes and cast shadow on the neck under the chin.

Let's start the dress and hair clip with B93.

Add shading with B93 on the right of the dress and clip.

More shading on the right of the dress with B93. Also add a touch of E71 to the dress at the top, where it touches the base of the neck on the left.

C1 for alternate stripes of the dress sleeves.

B93 for the remaining sleeve stripes.

Add shading to both colours of stripe on the sleeves. Lay down a small amount of E71 to the left side of the right arm, which will act as cast shadow and pop the arm behind the body. Lay some shading under the hands with C1 to push them forward.

Use a pencil to add the top of the surface the hands are resting on and a White Gel Pen for eye reflection detail.

And that's us all done!
