Colouring Sea using Copics and Prisma Pencils

Hi Copic Friends,
Hallo Copic-Freunde,

It's my turn to do a tutorial for you and I thought I'd show you how easy it is to create a sea using your copic marker pens and prisma pencils. If you don't own all the Copic Markers you can use some Prisma Pencils to help.  I usually use these for shading, but if you need a few colours and don't have them all, then this is a good way to achieve the desired results.

I should point out that two very important things when using prisma pencils and copics together.  Firstly Prisma Pencils do not work very well on smooth cardstock that you would normally use with your copics.  Prisma's like cardstock with a bit of tooth, (rough) not smooth.  I have used Cryogen Irredescent. Prismas will not blend on smooth cardstock.
Secondly, you must complete all your work with the copics first and then add your prismas but DO NOT go back in with your copic markers.  The pigment in the pencils can damage the nibs on your copic markers.

---------------------------------------------

This is what you'll need:-
Das werdet ihr brauchen:

A dark, medium and light blue copic marker, I used B39, B37, B34 and B000
A dark, medium and light prismapencil or similar, I used Ultramarine, True Blue and Cloud Blue
Copic Opaque White or you could use a gel pen
Copic Opaque White oder einen Gel-Stift
Paint Brush 0
Pinsel Stärke 0
Your stamp or a blank piece of paper to make your own sea. I have used Make It Crafty's "The Beach"
Ich habe Make It Craftys "The Beach" verwendet.

First I have added some B37.  I picked up this marker instead of B39 but it really doesn't matter as we are not looking to blend here, we want to see different colours of blue as the ocean is made up of different colours.

I have then gone in and randomly added some B37
Ich habe ganz wahllos B37 aufgetragen.

And then some B39
Und dann etwas B39

And then B34
Und dann B34

And now go over all the white areas with B000.  I know it doesn't look much at the moment but bear with me.

O.K. now we start to add the prisma pencils in starting with Ultramarine

Then the True Blue Prisma Pencil, randomly again, remember we are building up different colours
Dann True Blue Prisma, wieder ganz wahllos, denkt daran, wir bauen verschiedene Farben auf.

Finally finish with the Cloud Blue.  At this point if your not happy and want to add some dark blue again, use your Prisma Pencil Ultramarine, DO NOT go back to your Copics.

Next we are going to add some Copic Opaque White.  I love this bit, this is where it will start to take shape, honest. I have used a small paint brush "O".

I have gone in with the paint brush adding a tiny amount of Copic Opaque White and flicked the paintbrush upwards, creating splashing waves.

Here is a picture of the finished Beach.
Hier ist ein Bild des fertigen Strandes.

And below is another example of  the sea whereby I have drawn my own sea just by adding the colours onto plain paper behind the image. So you see you do not need an Sea image, you can practice on plain cardstock.

I'd love to hear from you if you give this a go.
