Northern Sky

Hi Everyone, it's Faye here today :)

I've been colouring a lot of penguins recently and I wanted to do a different kind of night sky for the background, so I thought I'd have a go at some Northern Lights. I've used a cute image from Gerda Steiner Designs... Long Time No See. I love this little guy!

So, are you ready? Let's go...

I've coloured the snow area already and drawn a pencil line to mark where the sky starts.

At this point, I am going light to dark, although I will change that up a little later.
BG70

Add BG72 to the centre of the area you marked with BG70 and blend out with BG70

Blend the outer edges of BG70 with V0000

Use V000 and V01 to extend the wave of colour

Time for some pink. I've used RV63 and RV55 (I also added a sneaky streak of V12, can you see it?)

I'm back with the Vs... V01 and V12

Now I'm switching dark to light and adding some darker colours... BV08

Blend out with V09, V17, V15 and V12

Was that too fast? Ok, V09

V17

V15

V12

Repeat from the top of the sky down... BV08, V09, V17, V15, V12

Adjust the sky until you are happy with it. I went in a few more times until I got to this point...

That's better!

I coloured the rest of the penguin :)

Add white Gel Pen dots for stars and job done!
