Paper Pieced Toad!

Hi Everyone, it's Faye here today :)

This month I thought I would talk about Paper Piecing. I love the cute effect this gives a project, but sometimes an image can look a little unfinished and flat when you see parts of it coloured with beautiful shading and then a paper pieced part without.

Don't be afraid to add a little shading to your paper piecing too. Remember this paper is different to the paper you colour on normally, the fibres are probably looser, meaning the ink will spread more easily, but, if you know that and take this into account when laying down your colour, (be gentle, lay the ink with a light touch and don't go right up to the line) you are good to go.

Ready? I've chosen a frog from the My Favorite Things Toad-ally Awesome Stamp Set.

Add shading to the darkest areas with YG03 (My light source is coming from the top left)

Pull this colour in with YG01

Blend out with YG00

Add some random 'toady' spots with E42, E43 and E84 and cast shadows with W5

And that's him all done, he looks much more dimensional now, right? Now he just needs a pond to live in...

Sorted!

Copics Used...
Frog/ Reeds; YG00, YG01, YG03, E42, E43, E84, W5
Water; B00, B24

Thanks for stopping by... Have a great day.
